• About Us

Our Mission

To empower families by providing high quality and affordable counseling, home care, outreach, advocacy, and prevention education services to Northwest Ohio families.

Our Values

We believe…

  • … In the infinite worth of each person;
  • … All people have a right to feel safe, to be loved and to be treated with respect;
  • … Families are the core unit of our society;
  • … Empowered families build strong communities;
  • … Caring families will have a positive impact on future generations.

Our History

In 1904, a group of concerned Toledoans met to discuss ways to organize the city’s variety of charity organizations, including: the Toledo Humane Society, the Adams Street Mission, the Salvation Army, Volunteers of America, Toledo Hospital, Toledo Day Nursery, Board of Civic Visitors, and the Toledo Public Schools, just to name a few. This new organization was called the General Committee on Civic and Charity Conference. Their main focus was to act as a “clearing house” to keep track of each agency’s efforts in order to avoid duplicate relief efforts. Click here to read more about our history.
