Families seeking assistance may contact Family Service of Lucas County directly. Referrals from schools, courts and other community agencies are also welcome. We provide counseling services. Private insurance and Medicaid are accepted. Sliding fee scale available for Lucas County residents. Fees for groups and special programming may be obtained by contacting our Intake Department at 419-321-6455.

For individuals, couples, families or groups, our services are designed to assist in decreasing personal issues many people face due to stress, conflicts or phase of life changes.

We offer help in the following areas:

Mental Health Services

In order to identify problem areas and a specific plan to address these areas, an initial interview is conducted by a qualified, caring professional.

Mental Health Counseling:
Designed to help reduce personal distress due to a mental or emotional disorder. Services are designed to help the client function at their highest level of ability and achieve more independence.

Community Psychiatric Supportive Treatment:
Consists of referring, linking, and supporting the client in receiving appropriate services in the community, such as: financial support, support groups, case coordination with other providers of service and follow-up. This service is provided in the home, school, or community environments and can also help individuals learn new skills to help them function more independently.

Pharmacological Management Services:
A psychiatric intervention used to reduce, stabilize, and/or eliminate psychiatric symptoms with the goal of improved functioning.

Medicaid Health Homes:
Integrates physical and behavioral health care.

Family Violence Programs

Batterer’s Intervention Program (BIP):
Confronts the behavior of domestic violence offenders and provides tools to change behaviors and beliefs, which are the foundation for their use of violence.

Project Genesis:
Is an outreach program that advocates for women who are victims of domestic violence. The program teaches victims to overcome the trauma of victimization, to gain control of their lives and to remain free from violence. Family Service of Northwest Ohio provides a continuum of care for victims of Domestic Violence. Project Genesis advocates act as community liaisons and provide a long term support system to survivors of violence. This video shows the impact of domestic violence and how Project Genesis is making a difference in the lives of survivors.

Breaking the Cycle: Domestic Violence & Children:
Provides educational and/or treatment services to children who have witnessed violence and their non-offending parent.

Outreach Program

Youth Assessment Center:
Is a collaborative effort between Family Service of Lucas County and the Lucas County Juvenile Court to screen youth and link them to appropriate services. This linkage may occur in lieu of or prior to becoming formally involved in the Juvenile Justice System.
