In 1904, a group of concerned Toledoans met to discuss ways to organize the city's variety of charity organizations, including: the Toledo Humane Society, the Adams Street Mission, the Salvation Army, Volunteers of America, Toledo Hospital, Toledo Day Nursery, Board of County Visitors, and the Toledo Public Schools, just to name a few. This new organization was called the General Committee on Civic and Charity Conference. Their main focus was to act as a "clearing house" to keep track of each agency's efforts in order to avoid duplicate relief efforts.
As non-paid public servants, we see our function as part of an unending commitment to Family Service of Northwest Ohio and its People by ensuring that through FSNO and its community of counselors, medical staff, and volunteers, we aspire to transmit outstanding care, to move toward a more humane and caring world, to bring fresh vision and empower families to manage life’s challenges.
